I have always been very interested in marine animals and have grown up visiting the Vancouver Aquarium. As I have learned more, I have become curious about the conditions that whales live in, in aquariums. I found this article very interesting because she has very descriptive imagery and does a very good job of expressing how, even though she loves animals, she wants aquariums to show the factual and scientific side of whales, not the entertainment. There is a bill in Canada that may be passed that would fine any aquarium that had whales in it. Marineland is the only aquarium in Canada that would be greatly affected by this bill, as it is the only aquarium that wants to keep it’s whales long term. This article addresses how humans only think about themselves. We only care about having entertainment for ourselves, even if it is at the expense of a living animal.
