How will the Universe end?

Over the years many scientists that study cosmology has three estimates on how the universe will end. Since the Big Bang, scientists have been attempting to study how it will end, is it the Big Rip, Big Freeze or the Big crunch? Which one came first? In the universe there is Dark energy that is pulling and expending the universe faster than ever. Will this force rip the Universe? Or will the universe become too far from the sun and become colder, and go darker and will that be the end? Or will the dark energy stop pulling the universe and then the universe snaps back and creates the big crunch? Hopefully this does not happen in a quadrillion years.

One theory is that the universe will freeze. In the universe everything is moving away from each other because of dark energy. The Earth would move too far from the Sun and become too cold to sustain life. Many scientists believe that the Big Freeze is most likely to happen. I do believe that this is possible, but this will not happen for a long time. I think the big Rip will happen before or the big Crunch.

The second theory is the Big Crunch. The hypothesis is that dark energy will pull the universe and then the dark energy will lose, and the force will snap back ending in the big crunch. Why I don’t think this will happen over the big rip is because dark energy is still a big part that we do not know about. The big crunch theory has many interesting attributes, but the big rip has more compelling evidence.

The theory that I believe will happen in the next 15 billion years is the Big Rip. Why I believe that this will happen compared to the other two theories is because if dark matter wins its battle against gravity, then the Crunch will not happen. It would occur because as the Universe expands, it gets stronger than the gravity it contains. The whole Universe will rip apart galaxies, stars, black holes and our own planet when dark energy takes over.

In conclusion, this means that the dark energy will be so strong that it can rip a single atom apart thus ending the world as we know it. As of right now, dark matter is a mystery, but it seems to be the most likely scenario to occur. This is how the universe will end.

  1. i really liked the way you talked about the different type of theory’s, and how you believed the universe could end with the big rip.

  2. I really enjoyed the simplicity to share your own theory and compare the other theories. This project showed your ability to communicate your information in an essay. Good job.

  3. you presented the theories very clearly and thoroughly. I agree with you that the big rip is the most plausible theory to end the universe many billions of years from now!

  4. I really liked all the different possible concepts you brought up for how the universe will end.

  5. I love the way you presented the theories and came to the conclusion of the big rip happening before all of the other ones. I definitely agree. Great Job!

  6. Your presentation of each theory was very thorough and well explained! I liked that you shared your own opinion as well 🙂
