Week 10 Linear Relations

this week we reviewed linear relations from what we did in grade 9. What we review was the graphing. For example where the x and y axis was and the different quadrants.

quadrant 1: the x and y axis are positive

quadrant 2: the x axis is negative and the y axis is positive

quadrant 3: the x and y axis are negative

quadrant 4: the x axis is positive and the y axis is negative

Week 7 Polynomials

This week we review polynomials. Something new I learned thought was how to do an Area Diagram. How do to it is by draw a box with boxes inside it. Then you have to put your equation on the side and top. For example, the picture is a monomial so it has four boxes with C and D at the top and A and Bon the side. Next you have to multiply AxC, AxD, BxC, BxD. then after you distribute the same property.

Week 5 Trigonometry

This week we didn’t really learn anything new it was just review on what we did during week 4. Something we did was using a scientific calculator to solve the questions. How to use a scientific calculator for trigonometry is by punching in cos, sin, or tan and entering the number after and if you need to use -1 you enter the shift button before.

Week 4 Trigonometry

This week we learned trigonometry. Trigonometry is finding angles and lengths of a triangle with SOH (Sin=opposite over hypotenuse) CAH Cos= opposite over hypotenuse TOA tan= opposite over adjacent

Week 6 Polynomials

This week it was mainly just review of polynomials. Some new things I learned was different terms for different polynomials like monomial which is when there is 1 term, binomial when there is 2 terms, and trinomials when there is 3 terms. If there is 4 or more terms it is just called a polynomials.

I also learned different names for different degrees of polynomials

Constant= degree of 0

Linear=degree of 1

Quadratic=degree of 2

Cubic=degree of 3

Quartic=degree of 4

Quintic=degree of 5

the degree is the exponent on the variable.

Week 3 Exponent Laws

This week I learned how to do exponent laws. We learned the product law, quotient law, and power law. The product law is where you add the exponents together, quotient is where you subtract the exponents and power law is where you multiply.

Week 2 Math 10 Prime Factors and Divisibility Rules

This week something new I learned what Prime Factors and Divisibility Rules. Basically first I learned how to use division tables because I already new how to use factor trees but this week I got taught division tables. At first I was confused because I thought in my head “why couldn’t we do long division” but now that I learned how to do it, it makes sense. I learned the Divisibility rules for 2,3,4,5,6,8,9,10.

Week 1 Math 10

How I use math in my daily life is by looking at the clock by adding or subtracting to see how much time I have to get ready, setting an alarm to get the right amount of sleep, or to see how many minutes till next class. I also use math in my daily life for when I go shopping because I want to make sure I don’t spend too much so I subtract how much I’m going to loose if I buy an item.
