Electric House

Define: A problem in my electric house is that we didn’t have anywhere to put our battery. We would have to hold the battery for it to turn on the light because our wires that connect to the battery were at the top of our house. We wanted our battery to be functional without having to hold it up every time because that was just inconvient. We didn’t have another problems in our house because the wires were tucked in how we liked it it was just the battery that was the main issue. The battery was also heavy so we needed something stable to hold it in place.

Dream: Some of ours idea to solve this problem was to 3D print a battery holder, tape the battery to the box, cut a hole in the box to place on the top floor, and build a room in the back to hide our wires and battery. Some of the ideas we had were a bit to advanced so we didn’t even count it as an option. The other ideas were good we just didn’t have enough time and they would the most efficient. we decided our design choices would be hot glued to the back of the box and it would be more stable then taping just the battery directly on the box.

Deliver: The solution we made to fix our problem was to 3D print a box to hold our battery. This design will keep the battery stable and in place so would no longer have to hold it by hand. We would start first by making a design on our computer and then print it out. Next we would hot glue it to the back for it to stay put. And then it should hold the battery in place to connect to the other wires.

Debrief: The process we had to go through t0 make our box for our battery was to come up with a design for it to work. We had trouble with the sizing but we made it work. We also had to wait 3 hours for the 3D printing to finish.

Volunteer Opportunity

https://www.coquitlam.ca/709/Universal-Access-Ability-Advisory-Commit

The volunteer opportunity I chose is called ‘Universal Access Ability Advisory Committee’. Its purpose is to “provide a local and universal accessibility perspective and advice to Council with respect to achieving the City of Coquitlam’s strategic goals and accompanying strategic directions toward universal accessibility”.

This volunteer opportunity can benefit my future by letting people know I wanted to be apart of something to help improve the city to be more inclusive towards people with disabilities and help create designs or ideas on buildings. this would also be helpful because in the future being an architect is one of my options for my career so starting off with small stuff like this can help me learn about some things when designing things for buildings.

I am passionate on getting involved this field because it seems interesting to hear what others want to do to improve the city and I’m interested in helping the disability. This could also be a good learning experience to help my future in becoming a architect.
