For this project I’ve decided to reach out to Ofer Amram. He works in medical research and the reason I chose him is because I would like to go into the medical industry when I’m older but I’m not sure what i would like to be exactly. His job description in detail includes “Assistant professor at the Washington state university college of medical researcher. I was able to get in contact with Ofer through social media and ask him questions about his job. Here are the questions and there responses        

1. Can you explain your roles and your responsibilities with your current position 1. I do research on health and drug use throughout the population. I also do a lot of research/work on climate change and I am a university professor /assistant who teaches public health and technical GIS courses.

2. What obstacles have you faced to get where you are today

2. A lot of  the research I do requires funding so I have to write a lot of proposals to get the money for them. I have had to put in a lot of hard work and hours and have had to learn how to publish and write papers.

3. What advice would you pass on to someone interested in what you are doing

3. It’s a lot of work to get to the job so you must be prepared to work very hard and put in a lot of your time. Be strategic and passionate about what you want to research, that will make all the difference.

4. Why are you passionate about your job/role

4. I think anything related to population and health is really important to understand and learn about for everyone.

5. What skills have you learned from your job

5. I learned how to design a research study and how to analyze data, more specifically scientific data. I learned how to write scientific papers as well and become very good at editing papers.

6. What’s the most interesting part about your job

6. The most interesting part of my job is that I can pick and choose what I want to do my research on and it’s up to me what I want to do. The hours are flexible and I can choose the things I am most passionate about to focus on and write papers about/teach.
