What are some things that were challenging?
I think that overall, the process went pretty smoothly. However, my first struggle was I didn't understand how to print on paper from the Cricut app. Evidently, I asked Ms. Henderson for some guidance and turns out that I needed to log into the school computer and that made things easier. From there, everything went to plan for my project. Since there was multiple people working on the same assignment I was able to observe other mishaps. For example, for one of the buttons, technically nothing was wrong but the Cricut just cut a different shape than needed. So the way we solved that was just reprinting and trying again and it worked. Another issue for someone else was that when making the button I assume they didn't put enough pressure so the button didn't form. I was very lucky to have had such a smooth journey. I am very proud of my work but in the future I will be sure to keep in mind to leave space around the edges since I didn't take into account that they would be folded over the button.
What are some things that worked well?
Personally I think everything worked pretty well. I really enjoyed the designing and it was a quick and seamless process. I was lucky to have had a group of people with me when creating, making the process more fun and helpful. I enjoyed having the positive social atmosphere, I believe it helped me learn in a fun way. I was comfortable asking questions and bouncing off different ideas. It was definitely less intimidating with others doing the same thing around me. I think using the button maker was my favourite part since for some reason I found it overly amusing.
What did you learn? How can you apply this?
I have definitely learned many things during this process. For starters, I learned that the Cricut can be used to ideally cut the shapes that are desired. Before, I thought that the Cricut is used for cutting vinyl but now I suppose the possibilities are endless. I can use the variety of tools offered by the Cricut to enhance my creativity and facilitate creative projects meanwhile making them look impressive. Also, it was my first time using the button maker. It was very simple so I am definitely interested in using it in the future. A big thing that I learned was that this is all very simple once I know what I am doing. Now I am unable to understand why I was so intimidated before starting. This is a quality that I can apply in aspect and just start doing what is needed because it will likely be easier than anticipated.
