Week 19: June 19th – 22nd (Last Week)

*Since its the last week, I’m going to record what I do for each day.

Monday

I started to do the Life Below Water project. I decided to do a painting but I included the stencil shapes for the orcas. A struggle I had during the paint section would be sometimes the whales wouldn’t look like what I expected so I had to paint of the sections by brush. A success would be the water as I made it look way better in the second picture compared to the first. I can complete it tomorrow.

Tuesday

I completed the Life Under Water Project. I had some problems with it but it didn’t hinder my performance. I really like how the water turned out and the sky. I also added rocks last minute at the bottom. I had fun with this project.

Today, I worked on my Edublog and I am going to work on the last project tomorrow.

Week 18: June 12-16th

Artist Trading Cards (Finished)

I completed one more trading card. I used tin foil and magazine clippings. I didn’t have any struggles with this one or strengths but I really liked how it turned out with the border and butterfly.

I finished and complete ten different ATCs in different types of medium. I really enjoyed this term project and I liked learning about the different mediums I could use. See final product below.

Lino Print

Lino Print carved (finished)

I’m going to continue to the next step. A struggle would be the background as it had butterflies in between and they were small so it was difficult for me to carve it. A strength would be being able to the whole thing as it look good. I would really like to complete this week and finish the Life Below Water banner as well which I need to spray paint then move onto the last project.

Update: Lino Print (Finished)

I completed the Lino Print on Thursday and I turned out well. I could have used a little bit more ink but its fine. I liked how the design turned out and I enjoyed the project from the designing to print making.

Week 17: June 5th-9th

Artist Trading Cards

I completed two ATCs this week. I had too many ideas for the second one and it changed a bit from the final product. Some struggles I had were being able to stay with my original plan as I like to add stuff after I thought of the idea. A strength would be the first one and how the card looks different from the others as I used line. I plan to make one more artist trading card because I don’t really like one of them and I’m done the project.

Week 16: May 29th – June 2nd

Lino Print

I managed to carve out some of my design. I’m not done but the struggles I had so far would be when I carved around the butterflies. I was difficult and I messed up one of the butterflies. What I like would be the tree so far. I would like to complete this within the next two weeks and move onto the print making.

Life Below Water

I’m going to be spray painting that within the last few weeks.

Week 15: May 22th – 26th

Inquiry Project (Finished)

I completed my Inquiry Project and I added a page for it. This project was a learning experience for me and I really enjoyed it. See final product below.

Lino Print

I managed to carve out a bit of the white out of my lino print and will definitely finish it by next week as I just need to carve out the tree and a bit of the cat. I might finish carving it this week. Some of my struggles while working would be carving the cat especially the head as it is small and has a lot of black. Something I feel accomplished in would be carving out the background as it looks really good.

Ambiguity sketch

Yesterday I sketched out a drawing that depicts my phone in multiple directions as practice. Some of my struggles would be sketching the phone properly as I couldn’t erase it as it was in china marker. What I succeeded in would be how I overlapped some of the phones. They lined up to make some perfect triangles.

Week 14: May 15th – 18th

Inquiry Project

I am really impressed with the Inquiry Project so far and I am almost done. There were a lot of struggles with the legs as they wouldn’t end up the way I wanted them to be but mostly it was good. I only did minor tweaks on this drawing but am so close to completion. I will definitely finish it within the next day.

Lino Print

I transferred the Lino Print image and it looks great but in some areas, the ink didn’t transfer well. I really like how the cat turned out and the tree but I dislike how the ground and one of the butterflies turned out. Nothing was really hard about this after knowing what to do. Next week will be me carving.

Shoe sketch practice

This is my practice shoe drawing sketch. I had to draw my shoe in multiple directions and choose some lines to bold and shade. I really like how it turned out so far with how I placed the shoes but I didn’t struggle with anything. I will continue next week but my Lino Print is my top priority right now.

Week 13: May 8th- 12th

Lino Print

I created the design for my Lino print and I am going to print it. I really like how the cat and tree turned out. After creating the design, I thought that the white background by itself was a little too boring so I added butterflies after. I don’t dislike or have a weakness with this design. I’m going to start working on it within the next two weeks.

Inquiry Project

I tweaked it a bit but didn’t work on it too much. I really like how its turning out but I still dislike how the legs look so I need to fix them. I really think I will be done this project soon. Most likely next week.

Week 12: May 1st – 5th

Inquiry Project

My inquiry has drastically changed from what I wanted to do at the beginning. I added another character to the picture which is turning out well. I decided to add him because of the symbolism. He is watching over Tiki (who is the dragon girl) and it was just sad how she outlives him. I still need to complete him and need to change the face a bit. I really like how his clothes are turning out and I’m not sure if I have a dislike or weakness yet. I’m planning to finish him by next week but I’m probably going to think of something new to add.

Lino Print

*This is only a rough sketch*

I did a little sketch of what I want to do for my lino print. I was tasked with creating a lino print with the use of Flora and Fauna. The flora would be the tree and the fauna would be the cat.

I plan for the cat, the top leaves in the tree, tree trunk and the top half of the sky to be the positive space and the bottom leaves, the grass and bottom half of the sky. Line would be around the tree and cat.

Week 11: April 24th – 28th

Life Under Water

I cut out the stencils this week and it took awhile due to the fact that it had multiple pieces that I had to cut out and they were big. A strength I discovered was the way that I cut the pieces out neatly in some places. The weakness would be how I cut out the tail. I messed up in some places and didn’t cut it neatly. I would like to be able to complete it within the next two week.

Week 10: April 17th – 20th

ATC (Stencil) Finished

This is the ATC Stencil I made and I really love it. I love how it looks and it was my first time creating a stencil art piece, so I did really well. I don’t think I have a dislike and I hope my final copy turns out as well or even better. I am going to start that on Monday.

Inquiry Project

This is my updated version of my Tiki sketch for the Inquiry Project. I really need to finish finish off the legs and polish up her hair accessory. I really like how it looks so far and what I need to complete is my dislike so far. I aim to complete it either next week or the week after.

Week 9: April 10th – 14th

ATC (Stencil practice)

I shrunk my orca whale down to ATC size and now I will place it onto an ATC. This will also be my design for the Life Under Water project. I really liked how the whale turned out and I hope it will turn out good on the ATC. I don’t have any dislikes. I will probably start that tomorrow and finish it next week.

Inquiry Project

I added the wings to the character and but I still need to touch it up along with adding other minor things to the drawing. I will be done this next week. I really like how it’s turning out and I want to change the wings a bit so the wings would be my dislike.

Week 8: April 3rd – April 6th

Inquiry Project

This is what I have so far for my Inquiry Project. I really like how it looks so far and dont have any dislikes as I have to add a few more details and do some minor tweaks. I still have to add a few things to the drawing but I am probably going to be done within the next two weeks.

Still rough sketching some ideas for it. Next week I will start constructing it.

Week 7: March 27th – March 31st

Life Under Water

I roughly sketched out what I would like the orca whale to look like on the banner. This is a rough copy so I might change it later/fix some details. I really like how it looks but I decided after that I wanted to do a different pose so that would be my dislike. After I complete the stencil trading card, I would like to work on this next.

Inquiry Project

I decided that I would change the pose of the character I am drawing digitally so I am aiming for this to be completed a little later and maybe 2-3 weeks from now. I really like how my drawing is turning out though as I got a lot of time to practice over the break on little details that I might have missed during my class time.

I sketched out a rough version of what I want to do for the stencil ATC. I am most likely going to finish this next week.

I have begun to draw the outline/rough part of my final copy and now I just need to colour it in along with fixing up some spots. I have the goal of finishing it a few weeks after the break.

Week 5: February 27th – March 3rd

Opposites Attract (Finished)

I finished my opposites attract piece and I liked how it turned out. I ended up changing the colours of the cats which I liked better than having both cats the same colour. What I struggled with would be what colours to colour the cats and what I liked about it would be how it turned out.

This week, I sketched out different whale poses and next week I am going to start fulling sketching out the different whale poses.

Inquiry Project

I’m thinking of doing digital artwork for my inquiry project and its going to be a portrait of a character. What I like so far would how it turned out and I don’t have a dislike but I might change the pose. Starting it next week.

Week 4: February 21th – February 23th

Opposites Attract

I started painting my two tiles and I’m thinking of changing some things. I like the colour of the left cat and I’m thinking of darkening that colour for the other cat. I’m probably going to finish it by next week.

Since this week was shorter with Family Day and the Pro-D Day on Friday, I haven’t completed much for the other projects. I want to start my inquiry project next week.

Week 3: February 13th – February 17th

ATC

I made another one of the photomontage and I really like this one as well. A strength would be how I was able to find and cut out images that actually fit (none were from the same image). The only thing I dislike would be that it is a little too simple.

#4 and #5

I was able to create two versions of the out of tinfoil which turned out okay for my first time doing so. I really liked the second one I produced as I feel that the design is better and colour I used (black) seemed more prettier on it. A strength would be how it actually turned out and how I was able have the first one feel like it “pops” out. A dislike would actually come from that but for the second one. Overall this ATC was fun to make.

I’m still working on sketches for this project. I have been prioritizing the inquiry project so I haven’t got much of a start on this one. Don’t dislike anything though since I haven’t started much.

I am still working out the design and structure of what I am going to do which is a character portrait. Ill post a picture of my sketch later. Don’t dislike anything though since I haven’t started much.

Week 2: February 6th – February 9th

ATC

I really like how these two turned out. I enjoyed doing the photomontage as I liked the aspect of putting different pieces on top of each other. The first one (Papier Colle) I did was okay as it was the first one I made and it was practice for the other ones. No dislike.

I started making the third ATC and it is turning out quite well. I really like the colours coming but I really didn’t do enough for any dislikes. I would like to finish this one next week and start another one.

Life under Water

I would like to make a killer whale out of clay. Whales are expose to ozone depletion, pollution, global warming, etc. Whaling is also a huge problem in some countries. Some ways to help with the decline in problems with killer whales include donating money, volunteering for different organizations, etc.
