Vigour

I was chosen to create an art piece to include within a bigger mural for indigenous reconciliation. My reconciliation artistic piece, Vigour includes my view on the topic. 

I believe that reconciliation is about remembering the past to change the future. My art piece on reconciliation includes an eagle inspired by Haida art. Eagle symbolizes freedom and strength in the Haida culture.  

Eagle is rising to a handshake, symbolizing growth, acknowledging indigenous peoples, and taking responsibility for the wrongs of Canada’s past. I painted the handshake orange because orange represents a step towards a stronger relationship built between the indigenous peoples and us.
