Reflection

  1. The questions I needed to research were:  Why are some days on some planets longer than others?  How does rotation speed affect days? and what controls rotation speed?
  2. I tried using the library sources such as Gale.  I couldn’t find any information that directly helped me answer my question.  But while using google, I was able to find resources that are run by NASA and scientists who specialize in the field.
  3. I first searched the length of days on different planets and found that along with the two forms of days.  I then researched how the times are different and what affects it and found a lot of information which lead me to rotation speed.  From there, I was able to find how the speeds on the planets are different and how it all come from when the planets were first forming.
  4. I looked at what kind of site it was and who wrote that article.  I used sites that were powered by NASA and ones that had answers from real scientists in astronomy and physics.
  5. Overall the process of my project went very smooth.  At first I was searching to broad and couldn’t find what I needed but I realized that I needed to focus on one thing at a time and after that I was able to collect useful information that worked really well for my project.  Something I could have done better would be to try and make more “mini” questions that branch off the main one and answer those along the way of answering the big one.

you did a good job on expanding and explaining in detail the different factors of your project such as what controls rotation speed. the flow of your research also was really good! this project is really well done!

Your project really went into depth for this topic. You answered your question very clearly and in depth. I knew a few things about your topic already though, I had no clue about most of the things you listened in your project, like I had no clue the sun had a key role in how long a day can be on a planet. I found it really cool how the bigger the planet is the smaller days it will be and for the smaller planets the day can get to be almost 60 days.

Good question. I like how you explained why some planets spin slower / faster than others and the rocks that affect the rotation speed is an interesting fact to know.

Your post was really well put together. I liked how you answered a bunch of different questions that you thought of while you were doing your research. I had no clue that there were 2 types of days and that earth has to turn 1 degree further for the sun can be in the same place. Great job!

It is a very interesting question and you answered your question very clearly. Images are easy to understand.
