Psychology Core Competency Critical Thinking

In psychology 12, I used the critical thinking competency the most. Some of the problems I’ve encountered were unfamiliar terminology/vocabulary while researching about disorders, not being able to find reliable sources for my DSM, having to study twice as hard to cover for all of the lessons i missed while I was absent, how to make my concept map, etc. These were really stressing me out, but I took everything slow and steady. First, I brainstormed ideas about how to do the concept map and discussed with my friends for more ideas and their suggestions, which helped me make the concept map quicker and easier. When I encountered unfamiliar words, I googled them and added them in my vocabulary for future use. When I missed classes, I got help from my teacher and friends to get back on track, while also keeping up with the new assignments and tests coming up. I also studied at home which made things easier. Writing the personal DSM took me a really long time, as I had around 22 full pages in it. At first, finding reliable sources were difficult as a lot of fake websites popped up in my feed and with virus ads, so I was a bit cautious. But eventually, I identified which websites were trustworthy and which were not, so I just used the ones I deemed reliable. With the sources I used, I was able to write 22 pages and finish my DSM with no further problems other than getting no sleep and rest. At the end, I didn’t give up and got over the obstacles I encountered through will power and thinking critically. Dedication and determination is what got me here.

Narrative Essay Reflection CK

The narrative essay allowed me to analyze my way of doing things and it encouraged me to try new things with it. While writing the essay, I researched about many new rhetorical devices to use in my essay that I hadn’t used in the past, and these devices gave me the knowledge needed to finish my essay in a proper manner. My horizon expanded, and I started to look at things from different perspectives to write a good essay. It boosted my skills and made me go beyond my capabilities. At the end, I had written over 1500 words while the word cap was 1250. I was so inspired that I had gone beyond the word cap, so I had to cut some parts out. Trying out new ways to write an essay and including different rhetorical devices in it really improved my skills in writing and English overall. I feel like it was pretty successful, and next time, I will try to include even more and different stuff in my future essays. My goal for the future is to get into a good university by studying hard, keeping track of important events and being responsible. After I get into university, I will study even harder to get a proper job and live my life the way I want to.

Reflection and CC

In history, we need critical thinking skills for almost everything. We have to analyze the data in front of us and make logical decisions. For example, Mikhail Gorbachev’s reforms. Most people in Russia argue that Gorbachev was a traitor for being one of the reasons why the USSR collapsed, while outside Russia, people see him as a hero for giving various rights to citizens. We have to analyze all the information given to us, ask important questions to ourselves whether Gorbachev did the right thing with the reforms (glasnost and perestroika) or not, and finally make a decision. This is why this assignment relates to critical thinking the most.
