The Great War Memory Project

Looking at this artifact is extremely hard. The amount of detail leaves the recipant with no closure. It appears as the person responsible for writing these letters wrote them frequently. The artifact indicates the importance of each soldier because even the soldiers with a higher rank, are still not cared about or given the respect they deserve, like the particular soldier in this letter.

Imagine the recipient worrying about their loved one, waiting months and sometimes years for the ones they love, and then to get a letter just saying they died with no explanation would devastating and might lead to further problems. The letter merely states a fact, and that is extremely upsetting. This letter is a joke, and represents the way these soldiers were treated. It leaves the reader stunned as to the type of treatment that went on during the war.
