Digital Footprint

How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities?

When you post anything on twitter or instagram or facebook it can be brought back to you. So if you posted something stupid while you were in high school later on in your life there is the chance of it being brought back up at a job interview and could make the difference between you receiving and not receiving the job.

Describe at least 3 strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe?

  1. Before you post anything think about yourself from an employers point of view and think about if you saw this on a possible workers social media would it affect the choice you had about hiring them?
  2. delete old accounts of you and make it simpler so you only need to keep one account on whatever you are using.
  3. if something isn’t necessary to post then don’t do it

What information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them? I didn’t really learn much. I would tell them by explaining how one bad post that comes up in your future can ruin job opportunities and make them realize that it is a big deal to keep your digital footprint safe and give them the useful tips.
