In Science 9, my group consisting of Xavier, Ben and myself investigated the dilemma: “Is it really unethical to modify human genomes?”
The details required to solve this dilemma include the science of genome modification, of course, and societal effects, such as the possible emergence of a genetically modified social class.
I believe that my group’s presentation has been hindered by a lack of time to work, in addition to one of our members learning English as a non-native speaker. With the time we had, however, I think we did well.
My verbal presentation could have done with more preparation, but I think it conveyed information well enough.
I think that we could have reflected more on the societal impacts of genetic modification, but given its nature, that’d be very difficult.
Unfortunately, I can’t think of anything else to say.
(CC reflection to come)
I love the question you have in your exploration: should we be allowed to genetically edit humans and other species? What a thinker! It is a great question to get your listeners thinking about CRISPR technology and altering DNA. You asked your listeners a lot of great questions and came up with a sufficient solution. Great work!
