English 9 – The Friday That Everything Changed LEGO Stop Motion

Bonus: Incomplete green screen cut

Our video was originally to feature green screen effects with a digital backdrop, however, wrinkles in the green screen caused shadows, and when the shadows were cut out, this also spread to some of the characters.

The project was filmed over the course of 2 days in the library green screen room by Nikolay, Mufaro, Jacob and myself. For the most part, I was in charge of video editing. I was responsible for the early green screen version of the video before we discovered the problems with the green screen effect. At this point, I simply rendered the video as-is and Mufaro and I began work on the final cut, which was mostly done by Mufaro. We decided against putting in music and settled for Mufaro’s voice overs and Jacob’s sound effects.

  1. Thank you for posting the “Stop Motion Project” based on your short story unit. I have some observations regarding this piece on a technological perspective, that I wanted to share with you:

    – Editing and overall presentation is well done creating a stop motion project with sound effects and narration
    – You do a great job retelling the short story, “The Friday Everything Changed”
    – Professional in format (produces a high quality project using the medium of stop motion, it is too bad the green screen did not work)
    – Retells the story utilizing the creative fluency (new product)
    – Posted and embedded correctly on your Edublog

    Thank you for posting!
