The job that I went to was bylaw officing. Bylaw officers enforce laws about property and vehicles, business regulations. They also do stuff with animal control and other stuff like that. At the job I would watch my host go to calls and give tickets to people for having cars without insurance parked on the street. Or not locking garbage bins in an area where you need too.

You need to complete all the JIBC bylaw courses to become a bylaw officer. You need to have good judgment and be able to deal with sensitive situations. You need good communication skills and the ability to end conflicts.

I like you’re not sitting around or in the same room all day. You drive around Poco and go do different things. I don’t like how you must interact with so many people and sometimes not so nice people. Sometimes you also must deal with homeless people.

Right now bylaw officers only do stuff if it gets reported, But now they are starting to stuff even if it doesn’t get reported.

2 reasons why I like this job:

You get a lot of freedom; you can do what you need to do whenever you want.

The job pays good, around 85k a year

3 reasons why I wouldn’t like this job:

You need to interact with a lot of people.

You sometimes need to deal with homeless people

It can get boring sometimes, depending on how many calls you get.

This job is not really for me. I would prefer a job where you don’t have to talk to as many people.
