Sine, Cosine, and Tangent Understanding

Sine, cosine, and tangent are all ratios. They are mathematical terms from trigonometry. These terms can be represented by sin, cos, and tan.

x represents the angle. You can’t have sin, cos, or tan without specifying the angle. The hypotenuse will always be the same no matter the angle given, however the adjacent and opposite angle will not always be the same.

sin x= the opposite length divided by the hypotenuse

cos x = The adjacent length divided by the hypotenuse

tan x = The opposite length divided by the adjacent length

There are also inverse terms as well.

Sin^-1, cos^-1, tan^-1.

Sin^-1 = Hypotenuse divided by the opposite length
