The first activity I did in class was find to find my own ways to measure volume and distance. This allowed me to think about what our ancestors had to do when they first started discovering measurement. It’s easy to find things to measure with but it won’t help if there isn’t a consistent unit. For finding the volume of an object, people found objects that could hold water as they were planning on using the displacement method to find volume. Something I found very interesting was how the cubit and the yard were created as well as the meter.
