Midterm Review – Integral Exponents
X^-3 = 1/x^3
in this example x to the power of negative 3 is being shown to equal 1 over x cubed. The way we do this is because our integral exponenents rule where we know that if it’s a negative exponent that we need to “bring it downstairs” and put it over 1. So in the example we have to take x^-3 and “bring it downstairs” and make it happy which will result in the answer being 1 over x cubed which we know is right.
