Week 8 Math 10 Blog Post

Multiplication of 2 Binomials

In this example we can see that (y+4)(y+9)  eventually expands into y^2 + 13y + 36 in order to do that we have to use “the claw” which means that we have to take (y x y) which equals y^2, then we take (9 x y) which is 9y, just put that on the side for now and we’ll come back to that later, then we move over to the 4 where we take (4 x y) which equals 4y then we take the 9y from earlier and add it to the 4y (9y + 4y) which equals 13y finally we take (4 x 9) which equals 36, then we put them all together to get

Y^2 + 13y + 36
