x and y intercepts

In this example we have 3y = 5x+15 and in order to find the 2 intercepts we have make the opposite variable 0 so we’ll start with the x intercept so y is 0 which makes our equation look like this 3(o) = 5x+15 which we can simplify to 0=5x+15 so in order to make both sides equal we have make the right side equal zero as well so if we take -3 and plug it in to the equation it would give us 0=5(-3)+15 which is 0=-15+15 which equals 0 so 0=0 therefore we know that the x intercept is -3. And we now do the same for the y intercept except for the x variable is 0 now so the y intercept is 5 cause 3(5)=5(0)+15 which simplifys to 15=0+15 which means 15=15 so we know the y intercept is 5.
