Wire Hobby Horse – Brooke M

This is what I have for ideation. I decided to do a hobby horse which was originally made of wire and sheet metal but is now just going to be a wire frame as the sheet metal wasn’t working out as I had hoped.

This is the really janky prototype I came up with. not the best or most stable structure.

This is what it looked like when the horse had the sheet metal on it.

Almost finished horse

The finished horse now has ears. It may not be my best piece of work but I like it. For the rest of the week/ time left in this class, I will hopefully do a couple of things on the wheel and try to make a bigger bowl than I have been able to make before with more leftover clay.

I got some feedback for the horse and the most common answer is more of the thin silver wire for the mane. As well as add more support ribbing.

I chose to make this horse head because I love horses. When I was younger, I use to do something called hobby horsing and I would jump over jumps my friends and I had made. I don’t think I could do it anymore cause I am less flexible so I don’t think it would end well. I chose this project to represent what I use to be able to do and my love for horses.
