For collaboration with nature, I intend to use only recycled clay and waste as little as possible. I would also like to learn to make sustainable plates and bowls with clay and waste as little as possible and recycle the rest. Instead of buying new plates and bowls that are very thin and will chip and break, I could make some that are a little thicker but not too thick so that they won’t dry fully through. I’m also planning on using a heatable and dishwasher-safe glaze, which is non-toxic. (as long as the glaze is available in the 3D art room)
My original idea was for a jar with a removable lid shaped like an acorn and a leaf print on the inside.
I ended up with this on the first attempt after looking at a lump of clay for about 30 minutes. I just needed to make something so this is what I ended on with, a bowl with a leaf imprint on it. I learned how hard I needed to press to get the imprint.
Okay, so today I worked on the bowl, I forgot to put it on the rack to bisque fire so it was kind of melting as I was under-glazing it so it became something else. There is also a questionable leaf pattern on the inside bottom of the bowl, I don’t know if it worked out because it was melting as I was painting.
So here is what I got:
