Santa Math Art

Posted in Math 10

For this assignment we were supposed to create a santa face using the functions/relations we learned in class with desmos.

To create the face, I made a circle and shaded it in orange. I made smaller circles for the eyes and used a quadratic function to make the smile. The beard is just a quadratic function stopping at certain points.

To make the hat, I used a square root function for the curvy part and used linear/quadratic functions to connect them all together. I made another circle at the tip for the little ball on top.

The whole face is shifted to the first quadrant, so that I can use the square root function for the hat. I wouldn’t be able to make the hat this way if it was in the negatives, because you can’t square root negative numbers.
