Week 14 in Precalc 11 – Factoring Fractional Expressions

This week in Precalc 11 I have learned how to further simplify rational expression by putting them into their factored form. I have chose to display my learning in simplifying expressions because it is the most basic skill needed in order to finish solving future equations or challenging expressions that require more steps of solving.

How to solve…….

Start by factoring the expression into brackets, when a bracket in the numerator matches the denominator you can divide them, which leaves a 1 which you don’t need write, unless it is a -1 which happens when the bracket has the same variable and number but doesn’t have the same sign, you can still divided the two but you would be left with a -1. After you have divided the same numbers and variables you are left with you fully simplified answer. When you write your restrictions you write all the restrictions from BEFORE you simplified.

Down below I have displayed a fractional expression and how to solve for the non-permissible values.
