Week 6 in Precalc 11 – Quadratic Equations

In this week of math I learnt how to identify a quadratic equation and how to solve it. Why I chose it…because it is important that I know how to identify this type of equation because it has special requirements of how to solve it.

Below is a photo of a simple quadratic equation. How I am able to tell that it is a quadric equation is because it has the exponent of 2. In order to solve one side of the equation must equal to zero but that step has been already complete for us, so next we need to factor. Once we are done factoring we need to find two values for X, commonly the values in the brackets already equal the solution of X but we have to convert to be the opposite of what it originally was, such as in the second bracket 2 becomes -2. Doing that will turn the other side of the equation into zero, we need to do this so the equation is balanced. Once you find the values of x we need to put them into the equation and see if we have properly balanced the equation.
