Indigenous Exploration Residential School

Reflection:

The experiences that I had creating this assignment was that I needed to communicate with my group of what roles we have and when and where we are recording and retrieving information. We had a lot of rough copies of the script but after rewriting and practicing we decided how it was going to be presented. Another experience I had while working in a group is learning that communication is important including collaboration and being open to new ideas.

While we were researching our residential school which is St. George, we had trouble finding enough information about the school and the survivors, but after awhile of searching on trust worthy websites we have found enough information about the residential school.

The obstacles I went through while recording our conversation was I needed to speak louder, slowly, and more clearly. When we played back the audio I was speaking very fast and I was very quiet. So after awhile of retakes we perfected our conversation. Another obstacle I had to go through was figuring out how to pronounce the bands and region. With practice I was able to pronounce words better.

Communication is key when working in a group setting. My group members were able to talk about my points of info and theirs, asking their opinions of the research I have done and making sure enough information was included. We made sure our points and opinions were clear and that everyone in the group understood. In our group we assigned ourselves to different questions that we wanted to answer. I do not regret picking my questions because I was able to get help from my group members and I was able to help them with their questions.

  1. Thank you for posting your “Indigenous Exploration” audio project (podcast). As the assignment was completed for both English 9 and COL, I have the following feedback for you on the post:

    – All elements of the assignment’s post were well done and properly uploaded
    – Reflection on blog somewhat explains process taken to complete the assignment, could have been further expanded upon in some sections
    – Clear audio quality and delivery
    – To further elevate this project, you could have included sources at the bottom of the post, where you gathered information from
    – Podcast is well done (clear speaking voices)

Overall, this assignment was well done. If you have any questions, please let me know.

    Thank you!
