Summary:

On Tuesday April 19th, we had a Google Hangout with NYU student Karishma Bhagani. She is the founder of the Matone de Chiwit project. This project is making water filters to send to Kenya to create clean drinking water. She is from Kanye and wanted to give back to her home country. The water is filtered in a very natural method, and the filter only costs $10 to make.

Questions:

1. What inspired you?

2. Do you think Kenya is overlooked as a country that needs help?

3. Has anyone helped you with this project?

4. What materials did you use to make the water filter?

Answers:

1.Having lived there and understanding the water issue inspired her to create the filter.

2. She said it was a really big topic that could have its own conversation, but she thinks that a lot of developing countries are overlooked.

3. She said her family and some other people that have joined her team have helped her morally and physically.

4. Sand, Charcoal, Gravel, a plastic object of some sort, and a vegetable called a drumstick.
