Week 14 – Math 10

This week in math i learned about the 3 different types of equations, the y-intercept form, general form and slope form. In other words, we had to learn how to put them into each other, such as turning the general form to slope, and y-intercept to general form, etc. Below is a way to turn an equation to y-intercept form.

turn  y-8 = -2(x-6) to the y intercept form.

the first step that you should do is use polynomials to help you, so you would -2 times x followed by -2 times -6. you would then get -2x + 12. In the next line, you will want to flip the -8 to the other side. The important thing you have to remember is to turn it into a positive because you are moving it to the other side.  Your next step will be to add (add because you moved it to the other side making it a positive,) 8 to -2. your answer will be 6. Now that you added everything together, you should get an answer of y = 6 -2X. The reason that 2 is always 2 from the beginning is that because it has a variable, you can also add and subtract a number to it when it is an X.
