Ecology Mini Scrapbook Assignment

Observe an organism:

The organism I chose to observe was a bird. This organism interacts with the atmosphere because it relies on oxygen to survive. It breaths oxygen, in and out. The bird interacts with the geosphere because it walks on the rocks, soil and even sand. The bird interacts with the hydrosphere because it needs water to survive. Birds drink water when they are thirsty, and they will also use water for bathing. Lastly, this bird interacts with the biosphere because it is a living creature. It is alive and it makes life too.

Biological community:

Producer: The producer in this photo is the berry. The berry makes its own food to get energy needed to survive.

Consumer: The consumer in this photo is the fly. The consumer eats other organisms to survive and get energy.

Decomposer: In this picture, the decomposer is the fungus that is on the tree. The fungus breaks down the organic material that is dead, so they could survive and gain energy.

Which organisms store energy through photosynthesis?

The organism that stores energy through photosynthesis is the primary producer, which is the berry.

Which organisms release energy through cellular respiration?

The organism that releases energy through cellular respiration is the decomposer, which is the fungus.

Ecologically linked:

Food Pyramid:                                        Food Web:

The consumer from a food web that is a threatened species could go extinct. If the population continues to decline, then there will be none of that organism left.
