Life Below Water Collaborative Project
At Riverside Secondary School the Art Department is spearheading a large collaborative project called LIFE BELOW WATER, inspired by Global Goal #14—a goal established by global leaders in 2015, that focuses on protecting rivers and oceans, and the life they support.
Inspired by the Global Lesson (https://worldslargestlesson.globalgoals.org/resource/protect-life-below-water/ ) students will learn abou t goal #14, and work to find solutions regarding the 4 major threats to life below water.
As part of an action plan, a large installation & postcard project will be made to help inform the public about the issues, and solutions, to this global problem, from a local context.
The installation is to be on display at Leigh Square Gallery in May 2023 (just in time for the 100th anniversary of May Day festivities). Additionally, there will be a website documenting this project, films for the Film Festival in May, as well as local river clean-up initiatives, and more. This will be a large-scale comprehensive project that involves many members of the community.
