Revealing the Zombie in the Owl is a clay mask made in response to a personal inquiry about what I choose to show to the world, and what lies hidden in me. I can identify both the loud and proud teacher that is my outer mask, as well as the less-visible, fragile human, born with a hereditary blood disease, that has struggled with their health.

I chose the Owl to represent my teacher side, and the Zombie to represent my life-long health issues. I glazed parts of the mask, and after firing added additional materials, like feathers and fur.
