In this photo i see a crowd of indigenous children, some being colored and others not, this photo represents indigenous kids and their generation trauma. when only a quarter is colored leaving over half left in the shadow, then being faded away shows how as a group they aren’t being heard and only a few story’s are being told and only a select few really are. the color coming back shows them regaining their strength .

Short Story Tableaus – The sniper

In the first tableau Namie “sniper” is sitting down eating a sandwich on the rooftop. Similar to the short story. The connects to the short story because sniper is hiding while eating a sandwich, how Namie is in this picture.

In the second picture Namie “sniper” is pretending to light a cigarette, creating a flash. How the sniper was doing the same in the short story. We used a stick to imitate a cigarette. In the short story it describes him nervous to light the cigarette so we had Namie put her head down to represent, fear or anxiousness.

In the third photo, we show Ava “old woman”, pointing out the flash she had seen from the flash of Namie lighting the cigarette. How the old woman in the short story pointed out the flash of the lighter to the Enemy

This next photo shows Namie “sniper” shooting the old woman (Ava). After being exposed to the enemy sniper. Out of fear he shot the old woman for ruining his cover and where he was hidden away.

The fifth photo shows the enemy sniper shooting Namie (sniper). For shooting the old woman. The enemy shoots the sniper in the arm maiming him. To show this we had Namie hold her arm after being “shot”.

In the sixth photo we show the cap over the gun trick the sniper did to trick his enemy. We had Namie put a cup over a bottle to represent the gun and the cap. holding it up as if she was getting ready to shoot.

In the seventh photo we show the sniper shooting his enemy. We show Namie shooting sniper after tricking him with the cap trick. She shots the sniper successfully. Like what happened I’m the short story.

In the last photo we have Namie “sniper”, after shooting his enemy back down on the floor. Namie “sniper” finds out that the enemy hips his brother. We show her “turning” me the “enemy” over just as In the story.

Indigenous Exploration – Qu’Appelle Indian residential school

My podcast was about Qu’Appelle Indian residential school. We choose to talk about this school we wanted to understand and learn about the past of this specific school, and the kids experiences there. We researched this topic by googling information on survivors accounts on what happened and different articles we could find on the school. The making on the podcast was pretty straight forward and for the most part went well, Uploading the file was probably the hardest part. Talking about this tragedy was difficult because it was hard to imagine what these kids went through and talking about it made it very real.

What are some aspects you value about this culture, as well as your own?

The first nation people had to overcome having their children ripped away from them and their culture ripped away from them, and all these tragedy’s in the after math. Their culture survived because they never forgot what was done.  They listened to the survivor’s and the victims and kept seeking justice for what was done to them.  It took a long time but they never stopped trying and because of that they are getting the acknowledgement they deserve.  I can relate it my my culture because we too honour the lost and talk about them to honour and remember them.
