Speculative Fiction

“Children” is a short film about children navigating a dismal society. It’s like “The Hunger Games” but grittier. This short tale is considered speculative fiction because it imagines a future in which children earn points in a game-like environment. It’s similar to a “what if” situation. “Children” is a dystopia because it depicts a dismal future in which children are driven to extremes in order to “survive.”

The Breakdown of VSCO

VSCO is a popular application among photography enthusiasts and social media lovers.

“Unlike Instagram, VSCO doesn’t have ads.” (Gampat 2023), Drawing photographers to Vsco over

Instagram. Vsco offers a wide range of filters and editing tools to enhance photos and give them a

unique look. You can also explore and follow other users to discover amazing content and get inspired.

VSCO was created by Joel Flory and Greg Lutze. They developed the application as a platform for

photographers to share and edit Their photos with a creative and artistic touch. It has since gained a

huge following and become a very popular application. VSCO was launched in 2012, but started getting

popular in 2020. VSCO is a 13+ application and is not intended for anyone under 13.

Confidential info is a big thing for VSCO, “VSCO hides these numbers appears to take the pressure

off what user’s post” (Hughes 2023). people can’t see or know if the person people are talking to or

sending pictures of is real. apart from notifications people cannot check who they are currently

following or who is following them. VSCO doesn’t have many guidelines to what can and cannot be

posted, so there are a lot of things that are inappropriate for ages under 13+.

Vsco hit its peak in 2020 “VSCO girls like Emma and her crew are all over the internet now” (Hughes

2023).

Ecology Scrapbook Portfolio

Crows are omnivorous birds that play an important role in many ecosystems. As scavengers, they help to clean up dead animals and other organic matter, which helps to prevent the spread of disease. They are also opportunistic hunters and will eat a wide variety of other animals, including insects, small mammals, and other birds. Crows are also known for their intelligence and problem-solving abilities, which allows them to adapt to changing environments and find new food sources. Overall, crows are an important part of many ecosystems and help to maintain the balance of nature.

PRODUCER:

The job of a producer in nature is to convert sunlight into energy through photosynthesis. This energy is then used to fuel the producer’s growth and survival, as well as to provide energy for other organisms that consume the producer. Without producers, there would be no food source for other organisms, and the food chain would collapse.
CONSUMER:
n nature, the job of a consumer is to obtain energy by eating other organisms. Consumers are organisms that cannot produce their own food, so they must consume other organisms to survive. There are different types of consumers, including herbivores (which eat plants), carnivores (which eat other animals), and omnivores (which eat both plants and animals). The energy that consumers obtain from their food is used to fuel their growth, reproduction, and other biological processes.
DECOMPOSER:
In nature, the job of a decomposer is to break down dead organic matter into simpler substances, such as nutrients. Decomposers are organisms like bacteria, fungi, and worms that feed on dead plant and animal matter, as well as waste products like feces. They play an important role in the ecosystem by recycling nutrients and returning them to the soil, where they can be taken up by plants and used to grow new organisms. Without decomposers, dead organic matter would accumulate, and nutrients would become locked up and unavailable to other organisms.

Dear George Heyman,

I’ve been doing some research on urban sprawl and new urban design, and I wanted to share my findings with you.

Urban sprawl is a phenomenon that occurs when cities and suburbs expand outward, often resulting in the destruction of natural habitats and the creation of car-dependent communities. However, new urban designs can incorporate energy-efficient features such as green roofs, solar panels, and energy-efficient buildings that can reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, leading to a more sustainable urban environment. Additionally, new urban designs can encourage the use of public transportation, biking, and walking, which can reduce the amount of energy needed for transportation and improve air quality.

While there are some potential downsides to these designs, such as cost and unintended consequences, many experts argue that the benefits of sustainable urban design outweigh these potential drawbacks. These benefits include improved quality of life for residents, reduced energy costs, and increased investment in sustainable communities.

Overall, I believe that new urban designs that prioritize sustainability and innovation are crucial for addressing the challenges of urban sprawl and creating a more sustainable future.

Best regards,

Electric House

In this assignment, Me Namie and Sierra created a box house with 2 rooms, these rooms holding a series circuit and a parallel circuit. During this project we faced a few challenges with the battery pulling down wires and effecting the outcome of our project.

DEFINE

During this assignment I personally struggled with the battery pulling down the wires to disconnect several connections, effecting the end outcome of our project.

DREAM

My group and i wanted to print something seamlessly and that would not take too long to print, keeping that in mind we decided to make a ledge. To prevent the battery from falling and pulling apart any other wires

DELIVER

After I talked, me and my group concluded that the battery was our biggest issue, with this in mind we 3D printed a stand for our battery around 2-3 cm (about 1.18 in). My experience during the 3D printing was rather seamless, easily explained

DEBRIEF

Overall, I think my groups experience during this assignment was easily done and apart from waiting a while to print went fairly well. In 3D printing our wire organizer it helped keep everything neat.

community connection

The professional painter I spoke with has experience painting both the interior and exterior of homes and buildings. He started his own painting company from scratch, with little prior expertise, and worked his way up to where he is now.

Can you describe your present position’s duties and responsibilities?

He provides a quote for the work and is reasonable regarding all aspects of completion, including supplies, labor, quality control, cleanliness, and safety. utilising brushes, rollers, or spray apparatus to apply paint or other materials like stains, lacquers, or varnish. surface preparation and cleaning. removing outdated paint and wallpaper. repairing wall holes and cracks.

What challenges did you encounter to get where you are now?

He has put in a lot of effort to build his company to where it is today. He has to establish his company’s reputation and win the confidence of customers and contractors because he is up against larger painting companies. Promoting.

What guidance would you give to someone curious about what you do?

He would advise being ready to believe that it is difficult, especially if you are starting a firm from scratch. To achieve your goals, you must have a strong sense of self-motivation, work exceedingly hard, and constantly strive to improve.

Why do you love your job or your role?

He is quite conscious that it is helping him expand his business and is passionate about the fact that he is in command and can make all of the critical decisions solely based on his own judgement.

How do decisions get made?

He based his work on how much he can accomplish in a day, if the work is worthwhile, and prioritising tasks that have an impact on other workers. He also considers his potential financial gain from his work.

What about your job do you love?

He is ecstatic about working for himself and states that operating a business and being his own boss are his favourite aspects of his profession.

I chose to interview one of my family friends for this project because I like the fact that by being an entrepreneur, I will have the freedom and opportunity to express and act on my own ideas. I learned that being an entrepreneur requires good communication skills, organisation skills, time management skills, strategic thinking, and self-reliance.
