Invisible Emmie a book that shouldn’t be invisible to you

Today I am going to be talking about a book that I finished in one day. A book that I read in middle school, but it has stuck with me ever since. That book is “Invisible Emmie” by Terri Libenson. This book is about two girls, Emmie who is a shy, invisible and artistic girl and Katie a popular outgoing athletic girl. This book is about what happens when their lives intersect one day. Something I love about this book is the two different POV’s. It is very interesting to see how Emmie and Katie interpret the same event in completely different ways. The book also uses pictures to show these different perspectives with katies chapters having brighter colors, more pictures and less words. While Emmies chapters have more muted colors and are mostly text. The main reason I love this book is Emmie herself, she is a character I relate to a lot. Emmie doesn’t have very many friends, she is invisible to her peers, many of them don’t even know her name. I can definitely relate to that. I would recommend this book to middle school aged kids because the writing and story are pretty simple. I just love and relate to Emmie as a character so much. I hope you can too.
