Week 5: Finding sides
In week 5 we learned about finding missing sides of a triangle. This is extremely useful when it comes to solving a triangle. Before this week, I only knew how to find sides using the Pythagorean theorem, but I can find them using information from angles as well.
To find a missing side, the first step is to label everything. Then, decide which ratio to use (sine, cosine or tangent). From there, write an equation and solve for x.
Example:
Vocabulary:
Label: mark sides as hypotenuse, opposite or adjacent using the given information
Pythagorean theorem: a2 +b2= c2
