Public Broadcasting Introduction

  1. Public broadcasting is a type of news media that is funded by government taxes.
  2. Canada’s public broadcaster is CBC.
  3. In 1958 CBC had their first coast to coast broadcast and in 1976 the Olympics were shown for the first time on CBC.
  4. An advantage of public broadcasting is that you never have to worry if the government or companies are messing with the news reports that a public broadcaster is putting out because a public broadcaster does not need to rely on companies advertisements.
  5. Some people do not agree with public broadcasting because it is funded by taxes. This turns something that most people might not watch into something they also have to pay for.
  6. With the current generation I think to boost viewership you might need some activism campaigns that are reported on. From my personal experience I’ve found that these campaigns are quite popular with the modern person.
