Week 1 Math Blog Post

Although not often we all use math at some point in your day to day life. I have recently been bulking. So for me, whenever I am planning my meal out, I need to measure and calculate the amount of quantity, protiens, calories and vitamins that go into my food. For example if I am making chicken, I need to grab a certain amount and add a certain amount seasoning, veggies, protiens, calories and vitamins. This is so I have a balanced meal that will give me more healthy mass. But at least thats how I most commonly use math in my day to day life.

Volunteer Position: Reading buddy

The volunteer opportunity I decided to research in my community, is volunteering at the library as a reading buddy. As a reading buddy I can help little kids learn how to read, who might be challenged by the skill. This volunteer work could definitely come in handy, because I am teaching a child how to read by cooperating, making friends with them and sitting down and reading. Also, not only can it help me with my social skills, but it will also build better leadership qualities in me. These skills I have mentioned are needed in most jobs. For example if I wanted to become a teacher or basketball coach, this volunteer job will help me deal with kids better, by improving my approach to them and being a better leader. I am very passionate about this volunteer position because I would love to become a basketball coach, and many of the skills, like I have already mention are needed in basketball coaching as well.

Employment Opportunity: Basketball Coaching

The employment opportunity I am researching is basketball coaching. Like I have mentioned in my previous paragraph, I love to play basketball, and I want to become a coach because, I get to still follow my passion. My dream job is to become an NBA player, so if I am potentially coaching a good team, that will show through, that I have good communication, social and leadership skills. This also ties back and connects with my volunteering opportunity, being a reading buddy. In both jobs you need to be able to cooperate and teach kids how to do something. The qualifications needed are, good basketball skills, leadership and communication. And as for the current qualifications I bring to the table as a basketball coach are, having good social and communication skills. I also think I am quite good at basketball so none of the drills should be an issue. I do have some leadership, but I could definitely work more on that trait. Not much is needed to apply for this job, besides a good understanding of the game and social skills. Which I do believe I already have, so at that point with some more maturity I should be well qualified for this job.

Grammar Video Project – Conjunctions

Due to the fact that my Grammar Video exceeded past the upload limit I was forced to put it on Youtube. Click on the link above, Enjoy.

Conjunctions

This is my written proportion of the Grammar Video Project. I will be explaining in depth, the meaning, rule and how to use Conjunctions. First off, what are the grammar rules for conjunctions. “A conjunction is a word that joins two or more words, phrases or clauses in a single sentence.” Also, a clause is a subject or predicate. I think conjunctions are by far one of the most useful things in a sentence. Let’s say that you had a sentence that was too long or a run on, if you separated it into two sentences the second sentence would become too short. But with the help of a conjunction, you put both sentences together and keep it grammatically correct. You can almost always find a conjunction in a sentence because of how useful it is. Now here are some grammatically incorrect sentences examples. For example: Patrcia goes to work, later comes home to play chess. Do you see the problem, because I do. That sentence felt so awkward to say, almost like it had something missing. That’s because it did have something missing for it to make complete grammatical sense. Now let’s see how it would be different with an actual conjunction: Patrcia goes to work and later comes home to play chess. See how that looks and feels better. The reason the sentence was wrong before was because it was a run-on sentence without a conjunction. That was me explaining Conjunctions with the definition, rule and example. Hope you learned something new!
