Description
For this collaborative reconciliation project I have been one of the selected students in my 3D arts class to create a beautiful piece of artwork originally created by Kurtis Johnson as a interpretation of the Coquitlam rivers. This project is very important as it reflects upon personal growth, and sharing out community. This artwork is especially powerful to the indigenous culture and artists because it brings prosperity
The piece of the artwork I received
I was given piece 21, this is 18 by 6 inches and is such a beautiful piece of artwork to work with, especially the abundance of leaves/nature.
My ideas/approach
Inspiration pictures
These images above are mixed media mosaics, these pieces especially caught my eye because of how intricate and overall visually appealing they are. There is a clean and simplistic beauty to these specific pieces that intrigue me because there is so much going on. These media’s can vary from glass, tile, stone, wood, buttons, natural resources, and plastic. I would love to try and create a captivating mosaic for this reconciliation project as it will fit well with the piece of artwork I was given, and the beauty is beyond me, I could stare at these pieces for hours and this is what I am hoping for with my art.
