For my inquiry project, I had originally decided to make a series of 5 mugs because in all of my years of art had never made a mug. after creating my first mug ever I was super pleased with how it turned out. I did come across the mistake of adding too much clear glaze on my mug which made the mug’s bottom super thick and not as smooth as I wanted it to be. all in all, I wasn’t too upset with the outcome as this was my first time and it had been a while since I has used clay. when week 2 came around of working on the inquiry I had seen these interesting flowers being made out of pipe cleaners on my tik tok, and I knew I wanted to make it. so during my process, I scraped the 5 series of mugs and I only made one so that I would have more time to work on the flowers made out of pipe cleaners. my favorite flowers are tulips so that s what I decided to make. I went to Micheals the next day and bought good quality pipe cleaner and I got to work. I learned how to make these by watching tutorials on youtube. I was so pleased with the outcome of these and once I was done making the flowers I knew something was missing, ai wanted them o look like a bouquet, so after digging in some different media I finally found some cute fabrics to wrap my flowers in. these pieces are very specials to me as I made them for 3 important women in my life, my grandma, sister, and mom, each flowers custom to their favorite color! I also added an inspirational message on the back to make it more meaningful. I know it may look like my inquiry project was all over the place and there wasn’t a theme, ut going into this project I knew I didn’t want to make one thing. for it being my last art class ever at Riverside I wanted to try things that I had never done before and have fun with it whether it was complicated to o or not I believe this inquiry project produces the perfect custom/meaningful pieces to remember when I leave Riverside. I learned more about myself, my likes, and my dislikes when it comes to art. I understood as much as I love working with clay it’s not my favorite thing. I also learned that I love working with mixed media because I’m not confined to only using one thing, I love options, and I like to make things that are different. I also understand that this semester my artwork was in the way that I wanted them to be but have come to terms with that this semester especially has been a hard one for me and I won’t let one bad semester define my art capabilities. to conclude I am super happy with how everything turned out and I hope to continue to strive and think outside of the box.
