Amphitrite is a very beautiful lino print. My vision during my process was that I wanted it to be connected with the sea as this topic reoccurred during this year’s art classes. I am very fond of Greek mythology, as in mermaids, as this stuck with the idea of creating this Greek goddess. As you can see on the outside lining of the whole lino print I added borders that would look like “Greek tile” to tie my vision together. reading the rubric I understood we had to use different colors of ink, with that being said I really wanted to mix the white and blue ink to create the beautiful “Greek” looking blue color.

this piece is very meaningful to me as I always had a love for the ocean ever since I was little. As I mentioned before I admire Greek ways and Greek mythology, it is a very exotic/beautiful culture. I decided to draw Amphitrite the way I perceived her to look, I also added a hand in the middle of her body symbolizing her care and healing for ocean life. I also added a shell in the palm of the hand as shells symbolize fertility and love which really connect to who Amphitrite is and what she stands for. this project isn’t just art to me it is to advocate and preach to take better care of our planet, especially our oceans and sea creatures. overall I really enjoy making this project it was a bit challenging carving and getting very fine detail but with a little time and patience, I managed to complete this project and I am very pleased with how it turned out.
