MY PASSION: interior design
For this project I have interviewed Susie Robb, she is an interior designer with her own online décor shop called shopfromsusie.com. she is such a sweet and outgoing person and was nice enough to let me interview her. 🙂
Questions:
- Why are you passionate about your job?
Susie’s response:
” I love helping cultivate hope and joy in there homes. i belive that your surroundings greatly impact your mood, feeling and perspective. if i can help by creating a space that brings a smile to your face, then thats what i want to do!”
2. What obstacles have you faced to get you where you are today?
Susie’s response:
” I am a single mom and i borrowed money to get this buisness started. the finacial obligations have been the toughest. however, I strongly believe that the finacial burden has also been what kept me going when i wanted to quit. it held me accountable and pushed me through.”
3. What advice would you pass on to someone interested in what you are doing?
Susie’s response:
” I would say, lean into every failure. I have learned what works and what dosent the hard way, and that means those lessons will stick! Also, just go for it! Start taking jobs for free, posting pictures on social media, and marketing your service and chasing your dream!”
4. Would you be open to further contact from riverside students and if so, how can someone contact you?
” Sure, time permitting.”
5. How did this passion/career of yours all start?
Susie’s response:
“My love of interiors began under the study of my grandmother and piles of traditional home and southern living magazines. I have been decorating for as long as I can remember. it was until after my divorce, in my early 30’s that I finally took a leap. I started working for a home décor store part time and worked my way up to manager. after a couple of years, I bought a business and started the interior design firm.”
6. What do you enjoy most about your job, and why?
Susie’s response:
“the freedom and independence of owning my own business is up there towards the top of the list, but truly, I love the reward of getting to help people achieve contentment and happiness I there homes.”
