There were some points in this article that I agree with for example how Canada and the US have differences from east to west but are similar from North to south because Washington and BC have many similarities in lifestyles. This article makes a good point by stating that the invisible borders are made surely for revenue for Ottawa. They claim that by joining BC and the states it would open up trade and create more job opportunities. This article also states that there would be a lower cost of living, more variety and choices for food, clothing, household items, fuel, insurance, and so on due to these changes, which i think is true. However, I don’t agree that British Columbia and the states need to combine because as this article states, BC is giving far more to Ottawa then it is receiving. I don’t agree with this because I believe that Canada shouldn’t run away from their problems with Ottawa and I don’t agree with annexing BC from Confederation. Instead they should try and sort things out. Also, the states has a lot of debt of their own way more so than Canada. Therefore, it would actually be unfair to join the debts. As Canada doesn’t have nearly as much as the states. So, British Columbia would actually be at loss by joining with the states. Canada is focussed on health care and education and not having a bunch of debt, America however has different views. Also I think Canada has a better government than USA and by combining governments leaves BC with Right-Wing Extremism, less trade with Canada, Higher risks of terrorism attacks and having to pay for many wars. Canada is a very strong country and I don’t believe we should start taking it apart now.
