How does the artifact you selected demonstrate strengths & growth in the thinking competencies? In what ways might you further develop your thinking competencies?
The chosen work was my Heart soars poem at the start of the year.
- I struggled with the instructions and messed up in a few places. I took time and resubmitted it for a better mark. I enjoy telling stories and making them up. I believe I can be good at poems and maybe write my own someday.
- The line I chose from my poem:
“The loud howl of a wolf
The low growl of a bear
The call of ravens above
Speaks to me
And my heart soars.”
This line was chosen because of my love for animals and the connections I have to the animals in the poem. Wolves are my spirit animal (hence why my blog based on them). I shared this information with groups of people I happened to be with. I expanded on information of how I connected to wolves. I discovered that I was connected to the wolf spirit when I was told I had the sense of leadership, along with being creative and resourceful. I found that I had many connections to the wolf spirit:
- I trust my instincts and intuition.
- I have the deep desire of freedom.
- I have high intelligence.
- I have the fear of being threatened.
- I have the lack of trust.
- I have bravery and strength.
- I can overcome failure and accept change.
- I’m courageous, creative, and resourceful.
- I show leadership.
- I’m very loyal to my family and friends.
- I work well with others. (Teamwork and cooperation)
- I have great determination to achieve my goals.
- I’m usually self motivated.
- I’m very social and like to share my feelings.
- And I’m a problem solver.
I show strength and confidence. This is what the bear symbolises.
My only connection to Raven is that I’m a trickster and a joker. I love making jokes, being funny, pulling pranks on fellow classmates, or just being plain annoying.
- I used search and select and questioning to generate ideas. I shared my thinking about the book with classmates and asked questions to myself about what was read. I used info from the book to complete some projects. I good do better on staying focused on my computer instead of getting distracted like I sometimes do. I should also focus on the topic instead of random stuff.
4. During the group recordings. I said a lot of things. Though most of it was off topic. Though some info was good and explained some key ideas. I agreed and added on to information that was given by my groupmates. We compared the western worldviews to the Indigenous World views and gave information on both. We all got equal speaking time throughout the recording.
