As World War 2 had just come to an end, many people were strongly affected by the horrible events that they had witnessed. George Orwell was inspired to write a book that would pose the question, “what if?” If the outcomes from the war were any different what would our world be like? Many of the things he wrote were strongly based off the political leaders and their oppressive regimes throughout the second World War. He included propaganda, and other similar strategies as the ones like Hitler and Stalin had, which helped make the novel seem more realistic to the reader. He wrote this novel as a warning of what could happen in the future if we don’t put an end to communist like ideologies, where despotism and the government’s absolute control over everything is encouraged.
