Short story to Marionette clones – New Media 10

I really enjoyed this project, because I got to use my imagination to create an article about an interesting story we read in class. In this story, descriptive and narrative writing was used, whereas in my article, I used expository writing, by using “Writing that aims to inform its reader” (Lindsay Kramer 2021). I also used persuasive writing, because I was trying to convince my readers that these clones are bad, and no one should buy them. Through this article, I wanted to make changes by trying to explain what is going on, as if this situation is truly happening. Therefore, I tried not to use narrative writing. If I did, it would have been just another version of the story. In doing this article, I adapted from my older one by using bulleted points on my paragraphs. After my first article, when we got to show it to our peers in class, I got a few tips. One of my peers told me to make my paragraphs more separated, thus shorter and easier to read. I did that, and then I incorporated more images in my article, and added hyperlinks under them, leading to other articles. The images I used were created by NightCafe, and it took me a few prompts to get the images I wanted, but I am happy with how they turned out. This project intrigued me, as I have not done any other projects like this before. Hopefully, we have more projects like this coming up in the distant future.

Residential School Word Cloud

This graphic novel, called “Sugar Falls”, made by David Alexander Robertson, is a story based on how Indigenous children were treated and what was done to them in the residential schools. It shows the perspective of a child, having to be taken away from their home and brought to this “school”, where they were stripped of their language, culture and identity. This cloud is based on how I would describe these schools.
