Interview Responses from mr.joubin:

1- Can you explain your roles and responsibilities with your current position?

I currently run my own law firm with 7 employees: 4 legal assistants, one accountant, one other lawyer, and an articling student. I supervise their work, engaging in track. I also am responsible with various cases including cases in the Supreme Court of BC, the Provincial Court of BC, the Federal Court of Canada, and the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.

I conduct trials and hearings in these places as well as prepare witnesses, documents, and generally give a truckload of advice on family, civil, and immigration & refugee matters to clients so they understand their rights and obligations under the law.

2- What obstacles have you faced to get you where you are today?

A proper mentor that is close and can guide me through the details of law and procedure for new areas of law. I’m  finding it difficult to self-learn a new area of law and branch out and so am basically stuck in the areas I’m already familiar with.

3- What advice would you pass on to someone interested in what you are doing?

To never give up and be proactive. To take procedures, systems, and Law Society Rules very seriously.

4- Why are you passionate about your job or role?

My passion is human rights issues and I have been able to practice certain areas of law that protect people’s human rights.

5-what is the most challenging part of your job or role?

The accounting and business management is very difficult and costly.

6-Can you describe the typical day-to-day responsibilities of this role?

Reviewing messages and then responding to messages of new clients, courts, other lawyers, or existing clients. Attending court or a hearing, or having numerous consults and appointments with existing clients in the preparation of their case. Guiding my staff and reviewing their work in between meetings or hearings.

Thank you so much mr.joubin I’m so glad you answered my questions and I learned so much of you and  thanks for your time.
