By Delia Motavalli
Looking at the home page of this I believe I was looking for a fun, creative, and insightful essay to read and with this essay by Delia Motavalli I found just that. Delia speaks of her mother and her in the car with the heater full blast, in the rain. With this she is painting the picture of her bond with her mother and a symbolic scene of insight as rain and water can often represent rebirth or a cycle. I personally appreciate this essay because I love reading about spinoffs on classical fairytales because although they have amazing cores and timeless lessons every story can be added to and diversified. Delia’s mother explores her own fairy tale writing when she explains to her daughter that their really is no prince charming, no perfect fairy tale ending but there is a beauty, a happiness, that you can find in someone as ordinary as a frog but so extraordinary for you. I enjoyed this essay thoroughly as the writers style is humorous but insightful and those two go hand in hand to create an impactful essay. The essay relates to many other literary pieces in its understanding that perfection is almost impossible but perfection with your personal satisfaction and happiness is possible.
