What was one of the greatest challenges you faced this semester? What did you learn from it?
One of the greatest challenges I faced this semester was assisting one of my peers with their laptop problem (as the Wave) despite the problem being quite complex. I continued using all the procedures to make the laptop complete all necessary updates but then had to critically think and use extra steps such as opening task manager to see exactly what problem was running in the background and if we were dealing with a possible virus.
What was one big win you had this semester? What did you learn from it?
My win this semester was successfully delivering the tech tips presentation to students in a STREAM that was not my own and then following up with conversations about specific apps and guiding them in how to download them. I learned a lesson about being genuine and outgoing in your approach talking about your own experiences, failures, and growth moments in relation to technology. I also took part in the trivia days leading up to Winter break which were a great success and very visually appealing.
What can I improve and/or accomplish this semester?
This semester I believe that I can improve my Cricut skills further by using different types of materials including trying to use different colors and cuts with paper to create intricate cards that I see in stores but believe I won’t be able to create myself. I also want to continue to assist peers with technology and learn more about Adobe Suite products to be used in creative projects.
What is something you want to happen? Focusing on technology and school culture…what would you like to see take place in second semester.
I would like to see an uptick in the general involvement of students in initiatives such as the Pumpkin Cricut Challenge. Once a goal for student involvement is established we can further tailor this goal to fit other initiatives such as bringing further attention to the MakerSpace or getting individuals to use other less used resources.
What is one think you would like to learn more about? Focusing on technology and school culture…what would you like to explore/implement second semester.
I would like to learn more about Adobe Suite as I mentioned but also have possible lunchtime classes or zoom meetings that aren’t exclusive to a club but are presented by teachers with a specialty in that area. (Ex. Mr. Romani could present a mini class on wood engraving) After these classes are set to be hosted we can then promote them on social media, TVs, and to teachers to speak to interested students.
