- What are the influences involved in your role play? (i.e., difference of opinion, going against your values, pressure from friends, pressure from a dating partner, etc.) Janelle has too much going on in her life and uses energy drinks and alcohol to cope with it. Janelle’s ex boyfriend pressured her into drinking a lot and she eventually got addicted. Things got worse when her ex boyfriend left her in the streets and she ended up drinking more. Although her kind roommate Hailey has helped her very much, she is still struggling.
- Explain how your conflict/issue was resolved. What skills were used to resolve this conflict/issue. Janelle, the alcoholic, had her roomate Hailey seek professional help from an experienced therapist, Logan.
- How would using these skills make the person in the role play more resilient? Be aware of what’s healthy for you and don’t get manipulated into doing things you don’t want to do in the first place.
CORE COMPETENCY REFLECTION
While we were filming the skit, my group and I communicated with each other. For example, while writing our skit, we were sharing our ideas of what we would add to the roleplay. During filming, we were deciding who was in charge of holding the camera during some specific scenes. We never had any communication problems, and I think that the recording process went really well.
