Week 14- Equivalent Rational Expressions

In week 14 of Pre-calc we learned about rational expressions and how to simplify them. We also learned about restrictions and how to find them.*you can’t have a 0 in the denominator and the restrictions only apply in the denominator.

Example:

*The restrictions are 4 and -2 because when you plug in the numbers in the x it would make a 0 which can’t be in the denominator.

Multiplying Rational expressions

If you are multiplying rational expressions you can merge the fractions and simplify the expressions and then cancel them out.

Example:

*If you are dividing it’s the same as multiplying but don’t forget to flip the second fraction and add more restrictions after you change the denominator.
